(2023) In the weekend of May 20th, it finally happened: Het Eeuwfeest. On Friday evening, we held a private celebration for invited guests, and on Saturday our beautiful building was open to everyone. Together with the other artists from the building, we worked incredibly hard to pull everything together and we definitely went all out. Throughout and around the building, there was an exhibition showcasing all the artists’ work mixed together. But there was also so much more: theatre performances, workshops, live music, talks, a silent disco, and more. There was local Hoorn coffee, delicious Mexican food, and lots of happy people. On both days, I gave a spoken piece about the value of art in society. It was f*cking nerve-wracking, but it was met with loud applause. Het Eeuwfeest was a huge success. I overheard someone say, “This kind of thing doesn’t happen in Hoorn.” That made me proud. I’m incredibly proud of @collectief_achterom , together we can truly do anything. A special thanks to @wethouderboomgaars for really listening to my words, for officially opening the event, and for sharing some kind words later in the evening. And of course, big thanks to all the hardworking barstaff and everyone else involved; you were amazing.
